Optimal wellness has captured the interest of several age groups and ethnicities. Risks for the development of chronic illnesses have increased significantly in individuals who reside the U.S. An article published on the U.S. Government website shared the 2020 Dietary Guidelines to promote healthier Americans, thereby reducing the incidence of chronic diseases. In addition, the CDC published information to alert the public about the prevalence of conditions that could impact total wellness. Findings disclosed that 6 in 10 Americans have chronic diseases. Causative factors included poor nutrition, excessive alcohol intake, and the lack of physical exercise. Certainly, this is not a new discovery. We have known for years of the impact from poor health habits. The question is, why do we continue to indulge in behaviors that are detrimental to our wellness? Obviously, no one answer addresses the question. We are unique in our make-up. What's applicable for one individual may not reflect the reasoning of another.
